WHAT IS ROOT CANAL TREATMENT??

A Root Canal Treatment (RCT) is a dental procedure used to save Natural tooth that is painful, badly decayed, infected, or damaged.

Inside every tooth, there is a soft tissue called the pulp, which contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. When this pulp gets infected due to deep cavities, cracks, or trauma, it can cause severe pain and swelling.

root canal can be done in single sitting or multiple sitting (usually 3 sitting is recommended for root canal treatment)

Steps of Root canal treatment at saket dental clinic

First sitting    -    Diagnosis & Anesthesia – The dentist examines the tooth and gives local anesthesia (painlessly) so the procedure is painless.

Access Opening – A small opening is made in the tooth to reach the infected pulp.

Second sitting - Cleaning & Shaping – The infected pulp is removed, and the root canals are cleaned, disinfected, and shaped.

Filling the Canals – The empty canals are filled with a biocompatible material (usually gutta-percha) to seal them.

Restoration – Finally, the tooth is restored with a filling or crown to protect it and bring back function.

Third sitting- capping procedure , we have different categories of ceramic caps - zirconia, lithium disilicate, nanohybrid ceramic

capping is eesential after root canal treatment for better life of tooth

Purpose: To relieve pain, remove infection, and save the natural tooth instead of extracting it.
Result: The treated tooth can last many years (sometimes a lifetime) if properly restored and cared for.

Why it’s painless now:

  • Use of advanced local anesthesia- Star pen(ELECTRIC ANESTHESIA) ensures the tooth and surrounding area are completely numb.

  • Rotary instruments and modern technology make the process faster and more precise.

  • Pain is actually relieved, not caused, since the infection or inflammation inside the tooth is removed.

Benefits of Painless RCT:

  • Saves your natural tooth.

  • Eliminates pain and infection.

  • Prevents the need for extraction.

  • Restores chewing and aesthetics.

  • Long-lasting solution with proper care.
